Showtime for Robin Monotti’s Crimean Yacht House, Architects Journal

Notting Hill-based Robin Monotti Architects has completed this holiday home overlooking the Black Sea

Situated on the southern tip of the Crimea in Ukraine, the building contains four independent apartments arranged around a double-height winter storage room for a 13-metre yacht.

Each of the flats occupies a single floor of the four storey block while the larger, two-bedroom apartments are placed on the second and third floors. The single bedroom flats share the ground and first floors with the yacht house.

The top-level living spaces feature nine-metre wide sea facing windows with bi-folding doors that provide access to offset private balconies which are designed for privacy and varied views.

There is a shared sauna on the ground floor, a shared terrace on the second floor and a rooftop terrace that allows 360-degree views of the sea and Crimean mountains.

Built on Donetsk Steel-owned land, the rental accommodation – which includes the option of hiring the yacht and captain – is reserved exclusively for the company’s employees’ holidays.
