On 15th September 2012 the mayor of Foros attended the opening party of Robin Monotti Architects’ ‘Foros Yacht Residences’.

Robin Monotti Architects completed the 875 square metre building in Foros, on the southern tip of Crimea, Ukraine. The building includes a room for a 13 metre yacht on the ground floor, with four further flats. A 125 metre square solarium is positioned on the highest level. The construction of the building took just over one year.

The building is situated in the “Foros Shore” resort owned by  the Donetsk Steel group. It is intended as luxury rental accommodation with the option of also hiring yacht and captain, the ground floor flat being the captain’s accommodation.

The living spaces above the ground floor have full width bi-folding doors to allow an uninterrupted view of the horizon over the sea and to allow the interior living spaces to feel like shaded outdoor spaces.  The flats also benefit from private balconies and terraces which are all offset from each other to allow for privacy and varied views.  There is a shared sauna on the ground floor, a shared terrace on the second floor and a rooftop terrace that allows 360 degree views of both the sea and the Crimean mountains behind, which rise more than 1000 metres above sea level. Glass railings to all balconies and terraces allow for uninterrupted sea views.

The building is intended to emphasize the experience of living on or at the edge of the sea, as if experiencing the building was already part of life on the yacht.
